  • Phantom

    Standard Operating Procedures

    Karmakut Liberation

    SECTION 1: Purpose of Phantom

    1. Purpose of Phantom:
    • Designated under callsign Phantom.
    • Phantom is a two-person ground-based Special Reconnaissance (SR) support element that informs the Platoon about enemy and environment situation.
      • Both Phantom members in a Platoon must be slotted for that Phantom unit to be fielded.
    • Phantom is not self-dependent and requires to be given authorized tasking from Platoon Leader {x-6, x-7}.
      • There must be the Platoon Leader {x-6, x-7} slotted for that Phantom unit to be in the field.
        • When less than 50 players are online:
          • In absence of a slotted Platoon Leader {x-6, x-7}, Platoon x-8 may also direct Phantom elements.

    SECTION 2: Operations

    • Phantom follows priority missions designated by Platoon Leader {x-6/x-7}.
    • Phantom must monitor Long Range - Platoon net 031.000 and Short Range 150.000. {2nd Platoon: Platoon net 032.000 and Short Range 250.000}
    • Phantom will identity proper Observation Posts (OP) and conduct surveillance while remaining undetected.
    • Phantom may be tasked with scouting the routes ahead for threats (e.g. mines, OPFOR) and situational information then report that information to Platoon Leadership to inform their planning.
      • For ground observations, Phantom must provide at minimum (SALUTE brief): Size, Activity, Location, Unit Type, Time, and Equipment of observed OPFOR.
    • Phantom also assists Platoon x-8s with ground-based intel to inform the selection of LZs.
      • For LZ observations, Phantom must provide at minimum: Egress/ingress routes, obstructions (powerline, trees, structures, etc.), terrain features (pinnacle landing, sloped terrain, etc.).
    • Phantom may serve as a forward observer and conduct Calls For Fire (CFFs) with Platoon artillery (Savage), with the following stipulations:
      • Phantom may only utilize CFF capabilities when absolutely necessary and must prioritize ISR over kinetic operations.
      • Phantom must deconflict airspace with x-8s over 080.00 before CFFs in order to avoid hitting BLUFOR air assets.
      • CFFs will be transmitted over 081.000 Long Range with the proper target data.
    • When utilizing the FGM-148 Javelin, Phantom must prioritize targets and ensure that egress and team survivability is achieved.
    • Phantom is not a direct action element and any fires must be approved by Platoon Leader {x-6, x-7} who may also delegate to Platoon x-8.
      • If Phantom is engaged, they must seek to break engagement and focus on providing ISR to the Platoon.
      • If Phantom is tasked with HVT elimination, they must prioritize breaking contact and resuming ISR post-mission.
    • The members of a Platoon's Phantom must operate as a team and share the same overall tasking.

    SECTION 3: Disclaimer

    1. Disclaimer:
      • Phantom roles are permission-based and must be applied for.
        • To be able to apply for Phantom, Platoon x-8 and Platoon Leader x-6 permissions are a pre-requisite.
    • 2 strikes equals a loss of Phantom permissions. {you may later reapply again for reinstating of permissions at the review of Community Staff}
      • Admin Team may remove your permissions at any time if they feel you are not performing well enough as a leader.
    • Any player can refuse an order given if it will cause them to break SOPs. (if this scenario occurs remind the parties involved of the SOP in a peaceful manner. If needed reach out to an admin to help mediate).
      • The intent with CFFs is to allow the PL to utilize Phantom as a forward element to ensure neutralization of OPFOR targets
      • The intent is not to enable Phantom total control of kinetic operations over ISR.
      • Operating the MN230 VLS (Cruise Missile) requires forward observer Phantom (only), utililizing drone ( Darter2i) for laze of target.
      • MRZR and M1097A2 are Phantom only assets and players must be slotted as Phantom to use them.
    • Phantom requires an advanced understanding of battlefield tactics, surveillance techniques (to include PID of forces AND vehicles), and clandestine procedures.
      • If you do not feel capable in the role, seek out guidance from other permission holders in the Server and Discord, and utilize the Training Server to practice with the equipment available. Several community resources are available in: Resources
    • Phantom is the eyes and ears of the Platoon on the ground, they must be played with the interests of the rest of the Platoon in mind.
